T-Cakes Now a Delicious Stop Along Legend and Lore Trail

The legend of Mama Joe and her famous petite gateaus or t-cakes will now be honored on the Fee-Fo-Lay's Cafe Legend and Lore Heritage Trail. Regarded as a talented mid-wife by locals during the turn of the century and beyond, Mama Joe (Camellia Aubert Alexis) would often bring t-cakes to welcome the baby and comfort the mother. The Fee-Fo-Lay Cafe uses this same 150 year old recipe to produce the t-cakes available at their cafe.
"We're honored to continue in the tradition of Mama Joe," says cafe owner and Mama Joe's Great-Great Granddaughter Jo Banner. "I can't deliver babies but I can certainly deliver her t-cakes," laughs Banner. Banner states the t-cakes are one of the most popular items at her cafe with demand continuing to grow.
Customers who can't make it to the cafe can order the products online through the website. The Fee-Fo-Lay Cafe also sells other Louisiana favorites including beignets, coffee, pralines and more.
