Lore Trail

Grace Alexis Populus

Our Creole family roots extend to the 18th   century and include African, German, French and Cajun heritage. The influence of these cultures is visible in the many folklores and traditions of this area. Our grandparents and relatives passed down these stories to us. As little children, we would gather around in the evening times to listen to their accounts and stories of life along the river.

This trail is a collection of our favorite accounts and stories. We named our café “Fee-Fo- Lay” (fifolet) after our Grandmother’s favorite tale and in honor of her devotion to preserving our culture and storytelling traditions.
